Running Accomplishments:

I have run 12 marathons, 5 since major surgery in 2005. My fastest was Leipzig in 1992. 3 hours 11 minutes 48 seconds. The Mesa-Phx Marathon on February 25, 2017 was the fastest since my surgery at 4:26:59.

Short-Term Running Goals:

I want to improve on my last Marathon time. After the Phoenix Marathon that I ran February 25, 2017 I want to focus on shorter races and do a sprint tri. I did improve about 45 minutes faster on the Mesa-Phx Marathon over the last Petrified Forest Marathon and about 27 minutes faster than the last time I ran the Mesa-Phx Marathon.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Continue to run and work on my speed. Do shorter races and a sprint tri in the next year.

Personal:

I have been an educator for 32 years. My wife, Margaret, and I have 6 children and at the present time 6 grandchildren. Running helps to keep me level. I love it and hope to continue to run for many years to come.

AM mile loops. 42.35 with 10:33 pace. 10:29, 10:45, 10:27, and 10:30 with 24 sec to finish. HR 115 with max of 130. I have struggled to run first thing in the morning lately. I am just too tight and haven’t been able to loosen up. I guess I need to get up earlier and move more before my run.

AM neighborhood with Don. He slowed down considerably for me but I still ran well for my current normals. 1:01:22 with 9:49 pace. 9:49, 9:04, 9:47, 10:07, 10:01, and 10:13 with 2:28 to finish. HR 127 with max of 137. 72 degrees with slight wind. Don sped up some for the last @1/2 mile. It felt good to run a little faster for once. I am going to try to do a fahrtlek about once a week.

AM started with Don to go 8 miles..72 degrees out with winds from 24 to 41 mph. It seemed pretty constant. We shortened the run for me so my first part was 5.05 miles and Don kept going to be able to reach his weekly goal. I walked where I thought he was running to run the last part with him but I had misunderstood him. We started on the hilly course, 10:05, 9:52, 10:51, 10:02, and 9:28. I walked to River Rd but Don was on Old Gristmill when he thought he was on River. I watched for him and when he didn’t come I ran the .7 back at a 9:12 pace. The wind was at my back the whole way.
