Running Accomplishments:

I have run 12 marathons, 5 since major surgery in 2005. My fastest was Leipzig in 1992. 3 hours 11 minutes 48 seconds. The Mesa-Phx Marathon on February 25, 2017 was the fastest since my surgery at 4:26:59.

Short-Term Running Goals:

I want to improve on my last Marathon time. After the Phoenix Marathon that I ran February 25, 2017 I want to focus on shorter races and do a sprint tri. I did improve about 45 minutes faster on the Mesa-Phx Marathon over the last Petrified Forest Marathon and about 27 minutes faster than the last time I ran the Mesa-Phx Marathon.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Continue to run and work on my speed. Do shorter races and a sprint tri in the next year.

Personal:

I have been an educator for 32 years. My wife, Margaret, and I have 6 children and at the present time 6 grandchildren. Running helps to keep me level. I love it and hope to continue to run for many years to come.

PM run. A little warm. I almost didnít run because I worked in the yard first and my foot was pretty sore. At the start I almost decided to stop but I got a work text that I had to answer so I stopped and answered. 57:49 with 9:36 pace. 9:28, 9:24, 9:57, 10:14, 9:19, 9:13, and 14 seconds. Was about 80 degrees with the sun shining. Yesterday was 80 degrees with over cast conditions. Yesterday was easier. First two miles I tried to do the second faster than the first even though the uphill is significant starting at 1.5 miles. Mile 3 goal was to complete it under 10. At @3.25 I walked in the shade for about 7 minutes. Goal for mile 4 was to keep it down as close to 10 min pace as possible. At @4.5 I went into a store and got more water. Maybe a 2 min stop. Goal for 5 and 6 was to run hard and have 6 be faster than 5. Later in the day running goes better for me. My foot is still stiff and later will be more stiff and a little painful. I go to the dr. Oct. 8th.
