Running Accomplishments:

I have run 12 marathons, 5 since major surgery in 2005. My fastest was Leipzig in 1992. 3 hours 11 minutes 48 seconds. The Mesa-Phx Marathon on February 25, 2017 was the fastest since my surgery at 4:26:59.

Short-Term Running Goals:

I want to improve on my last Marathon time. After the Phoenix Marathon that I ran February 25, 2017 I want to focus on shorter races and do a sprint tri. I did improve about 45 minutes faster on the Mesa-Phx Marathon over the last Petrified Forest Marathon and about 27 minutes faster than the last time I ran the Mesa-Phx Marathon.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Continue to run and work on my speed. Do shorter races and a sprint tri in the next year.

Personal:

I have been an educator for 32 years. My wife, Margaret, and I have 6 children and at the present time 6 grandchildren. Running helps to keep me level. I love it and hope to continue to run for many years to come.

AM ran my original hilly 4 mile route but gps was not registering as usual. I had to run further to get to each mile marker. So I extended the run make it a half mile farther. 11:16, 10:47, 9:37, and 9:56 with 5:04 for the last half mile. HR 120 with max of 140.

68 degrees when I started with a slight wind. I ran out 260 towards Showlow. I ran out and back but ran over 7 out so I could walk at the end before I got back to the house. Towards the end I walked some in most miles. This was the longest I have gone since my 2017 marathon. 10:15, 10:06, 10:26, 10:57, 11:01, 9:58, 9:57, 11:32, 12:53, 13:28, 11:19, 13:50, 14:48, and 1:30 to finish. It was over 80 degrees out when I finished. HR 119 with max of 159. Surprisingly I had enough energy the rest of the day to get some things done around the house. Quite a bit actually.

AM hilly run. Stopped in 6th mile to visit a brother To whom I minister. Was stopped for 19 minutes. My left foot got stiff so my sixth mile was a little slower than it should have been. 77 degrees out with slight wind. 1:14:52 with 10:24 pace. 10:29, 10:20, 10:57, 10:59, 9:59, 10:18, and 9:53 with 1:58 to finish. HR 121 with max of 133.

53:22 with 10:28 pace. Different course, have only run here once or twice. First 1.5 is up, then mostly flat with a little up to 3 miles. I wasn’t feeling it today. HR 121 with 143 max. 10:55, 10:33, 10:46, 9:55, and 10:07 with 1:05 to finish. I was going to go 6.2 today, but I got nauseous just before 5 so I decided to stop and walk. After one mile the side of the road is large gravel and not conducive to running, especially because parts are also muddy right now.
